Position Summary

Hopespyre Society Inc. is seeking compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming Registered Psychotherapists who are passionate about supporting Autistic, ADHD, LGBTQIA2S+, and other neurodivergent individuals across Ontario.

This position is ideal for clinicians who value autonomy while benefiting from administrative support, marketing, referrals, and a growing interdisciplinary community.

Successful candidates will provide virtual psychotherapy (with opportunities for future in-person services) while operating as independent contractors under their own professional practice.


Compensation

This position operates under a revenue-sharing model.

The therapist receives:

  • 60% of collected client session fees

Hopespyre retains:

  • 40% to cover:

There are:

  • No minimum client quotas
  • Flexible scheduling

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will operate under the following activities:

Clinical Practice

  • Provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and/or adults
  • Complete comprehensive client assessments
  • Develop collaborative treatment plans
  • Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Complete progress notes following each session
  • Maintain confidential client records

Neuroqueer-Affirming Practice

Demonstrate competence in working with:

  • Autism Spectrum
  • ADHD
  • AuDHD
  • Executive functioning challenges
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ identities
  • Gender diversity
  • Masking and autistic burnout
  • Identity exploration
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Workplace and educational accommodations

Candidates should practice from a strengths-based, affirming model rather than deficit-based approaches.

Client Care

Maintain professional therapeutic relationships by:

  • Creating emotionally safe environments
  • Respecting neurodivergent communication styles
  • Collaborating with client goals
  • Maintaining professional boundaries
  • Working within scope of practice
  • Referring externally when clinically appropriate

Collaboration

  • Participate in optional team meetings
  • Collaborate with Hopespyre coaches and community programs
  • Share resources and clinical knowledge
  • Contribute ideas for workshops and community initiatives

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

Education

Master’s degree in one of the following (or equivalent):

  • Counselling Psychology
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Psychotherapy
  • Social Work
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Mental Health Counselling

Registration

Must be in good standing with one of the following regulatory colleges (or another appropriate Ontario regulator):

  • College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
  • Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) – if authorized to provide psychotherapy
  • College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), where applicable

Applicants must be legally authorized to practice psychotherapy independently within Ontario.


Experience

Preference will be given to clinicians with experience supporting:

  • Neurodivergent adults
  • 2SLGBTQIA+ communities
  • Late-diagnosed Autism
  • Adult ADHD
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy

Lived experience as a neurodivergent and/or LGBTQIA2S+ individual is welcomed and valued but is not required.

Independent Contractor Requirements

Because this is an independent contractor position, applicants must maintain:

  • Professional liability insurance at their own expense
  • Active registration with their regulatory college
  • Independent professional practice status
  • Personal HST registration if legally required
  • Current vulnerable sector check (preferred)
  • Personal computer and secure internet connection
  • Private workspace suitable for confidential virtual therapy
  • Compliance with applicable privacy legislation (e.g., PHIPA)

Contractors remain responsible for:

  • Income tax obligations
  • CPP contributions
  • Professional licensing fees
  • Continuing education requirements
  • Insurance renewals
